Marvel's head Kevin Feige reveals that there is one DC movie Marvel always watches before making films.

AceShowbiz - Despite never-ending Marvel-DC debates between fans, the two comic book movie kingpins are getting along just fine. On Wednesday, June 7, Kevin Feige from Marvel Studios and Geoff Johns from DC Entertainment came together at an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences event to honor legendary filmmaker Richard Donner, who directed 1978's "Superman: The Movie".

During the event, Feige revealed that MCU always watched "Superman: The Movie" before making most of their projects. " 'Superman: The Movie' is still to this day the archetype of the perfect superhero film origin story and we watch it before we make almost any one of our films," said Feige. "That's been the case for the past seventeen years since I left the fold to go work for Marvel," he continued. DC Films co-chair Geoff Johns added that "Superman" was "the greatest superhero film still, ever."

Donner, 87, has retired from filmmaking. Besides directing "Superman: The Movie", the director is also well known for helming the "Lethal Weapon" movie series, "The Goonies" and "The Omen".

"Superman: The Movie" featured Christopher Reeve as Superman/Clark Kent, Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor and Marlon Brando as Jor-El. The film followed Superman's origins, including his infancy as Kal-El in Krypton and his youth in rural town Smallville. The movie was made with a budget of $55 million and nabbed a box office success with $300.2 million.

The most recent "Superman" movie was "Man of Steel" starring Henry Cavill. He will reprise his role as the iconic superhero in "Justice League" and "Man of Steel 2".
