'Breakfast at Tiffany's' Iconic Character Holly Golightly to Become a Merchandise Queen
Movie

The iconic character, played by Audrey Hepburn in 1961's movie, will soon make a sort of comeback as Paramount plans to make a slew of Holly Golightly merchandise.

AceShowbiz - "Breakfast at Tiffany's" iconic character Holly Golightly will reportedly become a merchandise queen. According to TMZ, Paramount has filed legal documents to secure Holly Golightly for the uses on "purses, parasols, gloves, coats and a bunch of other bougie gear."

Holly was magnificently portrayed by Audrey Hepburn in 1961's "Breakfast at Tiffany's", which was loosely based on Truman Capote's novella of the same name. It followed Hepburn's Holly as a New York socialite who had a crush on her new neighbor in her apartment, with her past threatening to get in the way.

The character has had a pop culture resurgence lately, particularly when HBO used "Breakfast at Tiffany's" allusions for a key scene on hit series "Big Little Lies". In the series finale, the lead actresses, who included Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon, wore Holly Golightly costumes as well as did their best Hepburn impressions.

Back in 1961, "Breakfast at Tiffany's" nabbed $14 million worldwide against its $2.5 million budget. It also earned Hepburn an Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role. The image of Hepburn's Holly Golightly with her high chignon and an oversized cigarette holder is dubbed one of the most iconic images in American cinemas in the 20th century.

Paramount tells TMZ that the studio has no plans to reboot the classic. The studio will merely focus on producing merchandise.
