Frank, who is best known for his portrayal as Tommy Oliver on 'Power Rangers' TV series, was allegedly targetted to be killed during his appearance at the Phoenix Comic-Con.

AceShowbiz - Jason David Frank, who portrayed Green Power Ranger on the original 1993's "Power Rangers" TV series, was reportedly being targeted in an alleged assassination attempt at the Phoenix Comic-Con on Thursday, 25 May. Thankfully, Jason was safe from the incident. A suspect named Mathew Sterling was later arrested for allegedly planning on killing the 43-year-old actor.

Jason has responded to the incident after the arrest, thanking the police for keeping him safe. "I'm very grateful to the Phoenix police department for their brave and outstanding efforts, which avoided a terrible tragedy, as recently seen at the concert in Manchester," Jason said to Fox 10 Phoenix. "To all my fans, please, if you see something, say something," he added.

Phoenix police told PEOPLE that the suspect was arrested after they found him carrying "multiple weapons, including three guns and a knife," into the Comic-Con event. According to the court records obtained by ABC 15, the suspect had "a calendar reminder set on his smartphone saying 'Kill JDF'," which was believed to stand for Jason's name. Police believed that Sterling might be mentally disturbed. The suspect told police that he was the popular comic book character The Punisher, who punishes evildoers.

Jason said that the incident was "an eye-opening situation to increase and add more securities to all Comic-Cons around the world." He added, "Due to the increased securities for the duration of the show, we are banning all prop weapons, however, please do not let this hinder your creativity in the festival atmosphere."

Jason is best known for his portrayal as Tommy Oliver on 1993's "Power Rangers". He is also known as a professional mixed martial artist.
