The dark medieval fantasy series follows the last surviving member of Belmont clan, who tries to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.

AceShowbiz - Netflix has just debuted the first teaser for "Castlevania", a TV adaptation of the video game of the same name. Although it's only a one-and-a-half minute teaser, it offers a good look at what the animated series will look like.

The teaser opens with someone inserting an original Nintendo cartridge into a NES. "There is a darkness upon the land. A savior is needed," says a character in a voiceover. A somber, gory and dark scenes later are glimpsed, featuring some of favorite characters from the video game.

The story's protagonist, Trevor Belmont, can be seen springing into action. Also spotted in the brief teaser are Dracula, Alucard (Dracula's son) and Sypha (a witch). It seems like the Netflix series is related to the third game of the franchise titled "Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse".

Inspired by the classic video game series, "Castlevania" is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.

The animated series hails from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company. Best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis writes the scripts, with Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar executive producing.

"Castlevania" season 1 will be available for streaming on July 7 on Netflix.
