The 23-year-old singer wrote and recorded the new music together with Ed whom he last worked with on One Direction's 2014 album 'Four'.

AceShowbiz - Liam Payne knows exactly what it takes to be a solo megastar. As the only member of One Direction who hasn't launched a solo project, the singer wants to be fully prepared for his debut solo album as he seeks help from a man behind every hit song nowadays, Ed Sheeran.

"Liam and Ed have been friends for years, ever since Ed first wrote for One Direction on their debut album," an insider tells The Sun. "The collaboration actually came about very quickly earlier this year."

The source adds, "Liam was in Los Angeles and was told that Ed was beginning to write a song with Liam in mind. Liam rushed back to the U.K. And the pair of them wrote the track together and then recorded it."

Liam seems sure that with Ed writing material for him, there is nothing to worry about. "With Ed's expertise in creating a hit and Liam knows they can't go wrong. They have produced something special together," the source explains. "Having Ed on board is a clever move too, as it means he will reach music fans beyond just 1D obsessives."

Prior to this, Ed confirmed that he had worked with one of four members of One Direction, but not Harry Styles. So it's safe to assume that the speculation of Liam working with Ed on new song is true.

Liam was also reportedly working with hip-hop group Migos for the upcoming album. He seemingly plans to take different route from his bandmates for his solo project. "Liam wants his solo music to sound like a mix between Justin Bieber and Drake. It's definitely not going to be a hip-hop album," a source claimed.
