'Walking Dead' Creator Apologizes After Killing a Major Character in the Comics
TV

'I'm sorry,' wrote Robert Kirkman in the emotional letter to fans, before adding, 'I feel like I killed a close friend. The deaths in this series are never taken lightly.'

AceShowbiz - As previously reported, the recent issue #167 of "The Walking Dead" comics featured one of the most upsetting deaths in the book. [SPOILER ALERT!] In fact, even Robert Kirkman himself was also feeling apologetic after killing Andrea, one of major characters in the story.

The creator/writer wrote an emotional note to fans in an entire page at the end of the issue, showing his remorse for killing Andrea, the love interest of Rick in the book series. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry to my fans and to myself and to Andrea. I feel like I killed a close friend. The deaths in this series are never taken lightly, they're never done with a sense of glee," the letter read.

"They weigh on me the same way they weigh on you. These characters are very real to me, and their deaths are upsetting even to me. I had plenty of time to change my mind. I had plenty of time to just not do it. I am in control of this story after all. But honestly, sometimes it feels like I'm not," Kirkman continued explaining in the letter.

"This was one of those times. I don't like this. I don't want this. I want Andrea to live. I want to write more stories with her. I want to see her and Rick grow old together, watching Carl grow up and have kids of his own," he wrote, before concluding, "I want that kind of happiness for these characters."

In the #167 issue, Rick is forced to kill Andrea, who was bitten by a walker on her neck as she battled the massive zombie horde amid an attack by the newly regrouped Saviors. The people of Alexandria bid farewell to Andrea, including Rick, who is definitely the one who gets her death the most hard. Before her death, Andrea makes him promise to continue building their world and make their community stronger. Rick later tearfully stabbed his love in the head before getting back to the rest of the community.
