Kelly Ripa Is 'Livid' Over ABC's Bigger Plot of Hiring Ryan Seacrest for 'Live'

Kelly reportedly is feeling 'betrayed all over again' after knowing that ABC hired Ryan not for the sake of her show, but to bring him back as the host on 'American Idol' revival on the network.

AceShowbiz - ABC should have stopped blindsiding Kelly Ripa about anything related to "Live" again. After news regarding the network's plan to reboot "American Idol" and bring back original host Ryan Seacrest broke, Kelly Ripa just learned that the real reason ABC tapped the radio personality to co-host on "Live" had nothing to with the success of her show.

"It's like Kelly has been betrayed all over again," a source told Radar Online. The source claimed that Ryan wasn't Kelly's first choice from the beginning, but the network successfully convinced her that Ryan "would bring in a list guests and ratings."

She reportedly was livid after finding out that it was "all about 'Idol' and not really just about her!" The source added, " 'Live!' makes ABC a lot of money but it's nothing compared to money that can be make in prime time." What made her even angrier was probably because "Ryan knew all along what was going on, but once again, everyone kept her in the dark."

If the story may sound familiar, it is because Kelly had been through the same thing during Michael Strahan's exit drama from the show last year. The host claimed that she was completely blindsided by show executives regarding Michael's plan to leave the show to become a permanent anchor on ABC's "Good Morning America". Kelly sat out "Live" for four weekdays before eventually addressing the issue with viewers live on air on April 26, 2016.

Earlier this week, a report suggested that Kelly was against hiring Ryan as her co-host on the A.M. talkshow. "She wanted someone that she could boss around, and that isn't Ryan. He's as big of a star as she is!" the source explained.
