'The Walking Dead' Comics Kill a Major Character - What Does It Mean for the TV Show?

As Andrea in the comics is killed off in newly-released issue #167, Michonne, who has been filling in Andrea arc on the TV series, may be killed in season 10 or 11 should AMC follow the comics.

AceShowbiz - Readers have long known since "The Walking Dead" issue #165 that Rick's longtime girlfriend in the comics, Andrea, was bitten by a walker. In newly-released issue #167, Rick is forced to kill the love of his life to stop her from biting him.

It is definitely not an easy decision for Rick to kill Andrea by his own hands. He says, "I've never been as close to anyone as I have you, Andrea. You... you mean the world to me and..." Before Rick finishes his line, Andrea cuts and says that she knows his feeling well and makes him promise to continue building their world and make their community stronger. At the end of the issue, Rick tearfully drives a knife into Andrea's head.

Andrea's death may affect the AMC TV series. While Andrea has been dead on "TWD" TV series, Michonne fills in her arc as the strong girlfriend of Rick. She has also become a mother figure for Carl as well as mastered the rifle skills Andrea has in the books.

Should AMC decide to stay faithful to the original source and kill off Michonne, it seemingly will take at least three more seasons. If the TV series maintains the current pace which takes 20 issues per season, fans can expect Michonne's death in season 10 or 11 given that the TV series has reached an equivalent of issue #116, the beginning of All Out War. Rick himself seemingly teased such an event as in episode 12 of last season 7, Rick said to Michonne if either of them died, the other had to continue their efforts in rebuilding civilization.

"The Walking Dead" season 8 premieres in October on AMC. The exact premiere date and the first trailer are expected to be unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con this July.
