During a talk at the recent Milen Global conference, Abrams spoke about 'Star Wars' rabid fanbase and suggested that many fans regarded 'Star Wars' as a religion instead of a mere movie.

AceShowbiz - The philosophy of The Force conveyed by "Star Wars" franchise has been affecting generations of fans throughout the years and even sparked a movement called Jediism in 2001. The franchise has a great number of dedicated fans who are willing to commit to events like "Star Wars" Celebration, buy a series of merchandise and dress up as their favorite characters year around. The phenomenon suggests that for many fans, "Star Wars" is more than just a blockbuster movie series.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams seemingly agrees that there's more to "Star Wars" than meet the eye. During a talk at the recent Milen Global conference, Abrams spoke about "Star Wars" rabid fanbase and suggested that many fans regarded "Star Wars" as a religion instead of a mere movie. " 'Star Wars' isn't a movie, it's a religion. But this religion people have, they don't always know how fungible these things are," said Abrams.

Abrams later shared a story of Han Solo depicter Harrison Ford, who found some differences on the set of Millennium Falcon while he filmed "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Unlike more than 30 years ago, Millennium Falcon in "The Force Awakens" was completed with more modernized stuff and Ford seemingly took a little while to get used to the change.

Lucasfilm and Disney will next excite fans with the release of "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". The movie will hit U.S. theaters on December 15. Carrie Fisher had finished filming her scenes as Princess/General Leia before she passed away last December, while Mark Hamill will reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in the movie.

Other returning cast members include Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis. Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran are among the new cast members.
