The late night host reveals on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' that Billy, his newborn son, had to be rushed to Children's Hospital Los Angeles to get his chest opened in a poignant three hours surgery.

AceShowbiz - Jimmy Kimmel was close to tears when he told the viewers a heartbreaking story of his newborn son's heart disease in a monologue for Monday, May 1 episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". "I have a story to tell about something happened on my family last week. I'm sorry, I'm trying not to get emotional, but it was a scary story," he opened the monologue. However, he assured fans in advance that it had a happy ending.
Jimmy then continued the story, telling his audience that he and his wife welcomed their new baby son named William John Kimmel, or Billy for short, on Friday, April 21. It was an easy delivery and everything was good until a nurse named Nanuzh at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center noticed that Billy's heart had a murmur and his coloring wasn't right.
Billy later was brought to Neonatal ICU, joined by several doctors and nurses, before they decided that they had to open Billy's heart as the condition was more serious than Jimmy had thought. Jimmy came to tears while recounting the story. Billy was rushed to Children's Hospital Los Angeles and the three hours surgery was successfully performed.
He showed a picture of adorable Billy and he joked, "Poor kid, not only did he get a bad heart, he got my face." After telling how his newborn son is currently doing fine and thanking a group of people who helped take care of Billy, he brought up topic of President Donald Trump's healthcare agenda. "I want to say one other thing. President Trump last month proposed $6 billion cut in funding to the National Institute of Health," he blasted Donald Trump. "And thank God our congressmen made a deal last night to not go along with that," he added. In fact, they increased the funding by $2 billion.
The late-night host noted that before 2014, if someone was born with a heart disease, it was hard for them to get health insurance, because it was a pre-existing condition. "If your baby is going to die and it doesn't have to, it shouldn't matter how much money you make," Jimmy choked again, before concluding, "I think that's something that whether you're a Republican or a Democrat or something else, we all agree on that, right?"
