Kim Kardashian Will Go Solo at This Year's Met Gala - Find Out Why Kanye West Skips the Event

The 39-year-old rapper reportedly 'will be staying in L.A.' to spend a quality time with his kids, North and West, as he doesn't seem ready yet for a major public appearance after the breakdown.

AceShowbiz - Kanye West apparently will not escorting his wife Kim Kardashian at this year's Met Gala. PEOPLE is the first to report that Kim "will be going solo" to the fashion prom on Sunday, May 1 in Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City.

"Kanye West will not be attending the Met Ball tomorrow," the source tells the publication. The source further shares that "Kim will be going solo," before adding that the rapper "is still very much enjoying his time off from public events."

Kanye "will be staying back in L.A." to spend his time with his kids, North and Saint West. Citing the source, the site adds, "Everything is great with him and Kim and he’s supportive of her going solo."

Should the report be true, it will be the very first time for Kim to attend Met Gala without her husband. Back in 2013, the couple made their Met Gala debut when the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star wore her meme-able floral Givenchy gown.

Kanye has been taking a break from public appearance following his breakdown and hospitalization last November. Ever since getting out of the UCLA Medical Center, the "Famous" rapper was more of a stay-at-home dad.

Kim, however, is not going to be literally alone at the event despite the 39-year-old rapper's absence. Sisters Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner are expected to attend the fashion event this. The latter recently shared a throwback photo of herself at last year's Met Gala. Also seen in the photo were Kim, Kris Jenner and Kanye.
