Hacker Leaks 10 Episodes of 'OITNB' Season 5 Online, Threatens Other Networks

A hacker, who previously threatened to leak "" season 5 online, claims that they have shared the upcoming season of Netflix's drama. The first 10 episodes of "OITNB" season 5 reportedly were shared on popular file-sharing site the Pirate Bay, after the network failed to pay the cybercriminal's ransom and remained "unresponsive."

The hacker, who calls itself as The Dark Over Lord, shared the alleged "OITNB" leaked season 5 first 10 episodes at shortly before 6 A.M. ET on Saturday, April 29, with a total of 11.46 gigabytes. Episode 2 to 10 of the series were shared, following the premiere episode which was shared on Friday, April 28 on Pirate Bay. The hacker announced on its Twitter account as well attached the direct link to the file-sharing site.

"It didn't have to be this way, Netflix. You're going to lose a lot more money in all of this than what our modest offer was," the hacker wrote in a message posted early Saturday. The hacker added, "We're quite ashamed to breathe the same air as you. We figured a pragmatic business such as yourselves would see and understand the benefits of cooperating with a reasonable and merciful entity like ourselves."

In addition, the theft also claimed that they had stolen footage from other Networks. "Who is next on the list? FOX, IFC, NAT GEO, and ABC. Oh, what fun we're all going to have. We're not playing any games anymore," it wrote on Twitter. The hacker assured those networks that there was "still time to save" themselves, as its "offer(s)" were "still on the table-for now."

According to Deadline, the list of allegedly stolen shows includes IFC's "", FX's "", CBS's "", IFC's "", ABC's "" and an untitled Jason Alexander project. The site further states that Databreaches said Dark Overlord provided the blog with "a preview of some of the material," which included "" and "Bill Nye Saves The World" (Season 1).

In a now-deleted Twitter post, the blackmailing hacker wrote, "Hello, this is thedarkoverlord (@tdohack3r) here to deliver a message. We're back again. Did you miss us? Of course, you did. We're willing to bet Netflix did as well. Speaking of which, Netflix clearly received our message considering they've made public statements and was one of the first people to download a fresh copy of their own property (Hello,!) – yet they continue to remain unresponsive. With this information in mind (and the fact that leaving people on cliffhangers isn’t fun) we've decided to release Episodes 2-10 of 'Orange Is The New Black' Season 5 after many lengthy discussions at the office where alcohol was present. Do note that there are 13 episodes. However, we were so early when we acquired the copies that post hadn't gotten around to Episodes 11-13. Perhaps Netflix will consider releasing the season earlier now that the cat’s out of the bag?"

A Twitter user seemingly indicated that he had successfully downloaded the alleged leaked episodes. @dadrific wrote, "#OrangeIsTheNewBlack Season 5 is amazing and I can't believe it works. Thank You @tdohack3r You Are Our Saviour. Enjoying the show!"

In a statement released on Friday, April 28, Netflix stated, "We are aware of the situation. A production vendor used by several major TV studios had its security compromised and the appropriate law enforcement authorities are involved."

Season 5 of "Orange Is the New Black" is slated to premiere later on June 9. It is unclear if Netflix will make a shift to the schedule regarding the hack issue.
