Artist of the Week: Future

After making Billboard 200 history as the first solo act to score back-to-back No. 1 debuts, the Atlanta rapper is gearing up for his 'Nobody Safe Tour' that will kick off on May 4.

AceShowbiz - Future made a breakthrough in the hip-hop music industry with the release of two albums, "Future" and "HNDRXX", within one week last February. Shortly after the albums release, the Atlanta spitter set another history as he became the first solo artist to score two-consecutive No. 1 debuts on Billboard 200 chart.

According to Billboard, Future is the first act to top the chart in two consecutive weeks with two different albums since 1968. The latest artist to do so was folk duo Simon & Garfunkel with "Bookends" and "The Graduate" soundtrack. Future was clearly pleased with his achievement, but he insisted that he valued authenticity more than numbers.

"If I'm the biggest artist in the world, cool, but I want to just be me," the 33-year-old emcee told Billboard earlier this year. "I want my money to be different. I'm not trying to have rapper money. My goal is to be able to get everything from the world that I can get."

Over his career, Future, whose real name is Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, has influenced hip-hop artists like Desiigner, Rae Sremmurd and Migos among others. His signature futuristic trap style and catchy Auto-Tune hooks which he pairs with boastful verses have made him one of the unique rappers. "The music I make, I'm different," he continued. "The melodies I come up with, they're not normal. Every black person wasn't playing the guitar -- Hendrix did something special."

Future is currently gearing up for his "Nobody Safe Tour", which will feature Migos, Tory Lanez and Kodak Black. The extensive trek is set to run from May 4 in Memphis through June 30 in Las Vegas. Future will also have Young Thug and A$AP Ferg on selected dates.
