The production of TNT's top-rated show has been temporarily shut down through Memorial Day as Dane is battling his depression.

AceShowbiz - Production of TNT's "The Last Ship" is reportedly brought to a halt as actor Eric Dane has to deal with his depression. According to Variety, "The series, which is set to debut its fourth season this summer, is going on a production hiatus through Memorial Day."
A rep for TNT's top-rated series tells the site, "Eric asked for a break to deal with personal issues." The rep further explains that the star "suffers from depression and has asked for a few weeks of downtime and the producers kindly granted that request." Eric, who portrays Captain Tom Chandler on the series, reportedly "looks forward to returning."
The crew and cast, who recently returned to set from a two-week spring hiatus, will continue to be in hiatus with this additional halt. "The Last Ship" has been renewed for season 4 and season 5, with each season consisting of 10 episodes.
Citing the sources, the site further reports that the production of "The Last Ship" season 4 is already wrapped, thus the delay seemingly won't affect season 4. On the other hand, the halt has potential impact on season 5, which filming is underway. Season 5 is slated to premiere in summer 2018.
Based on William Brinkley's novel, "The Last Ship" follows the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James as its captain Tom Chandler, and crew navigate life following a global catastrophe that nearly kills off the world's population. The action drama pulls in an average of 7.1 million viewers per episode across multiple platforms for its third season. It often ranks in the top 10 for original shows among 18-to-49-year-olds.
Eric, who starred on "Grey's Anatomy", has been vocal about his personal issues. Back in 2011, the 44-year-old actor entered a 30-day rehab program for an addiction to painkillers, following a sports injury. He got married to his wife of 13 years, Rebecca Gayheart, with whom he shares two young children, Billie Beatrice Dane and Georgia Dane.
