'Captain America' Director Joe Johnston to Helm 'Narnia: The Silver Chair'
Movie

While the previous 'Narnia' movies center on the Pevensie children, 'Narnia: The Silver Chair' will follow their cousin Eustace Scrubb.

AceShowbiz - "Captain America: The First Avenger" director Joe Johnston is on board to helm the revival of C.S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia" series, which is titled "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair". According to Variety, TriStar Pictures will team up with producers Mark Gordon, Douglas Gresham, Vincent Sieber and Melvin Adams for the project. "Life of Pi" scribe David Magee will adapt the script based on C.S. Lewis' novels.

"Joe is a wonderful storyteller who is equally at home in the biggest franchises and the most intimate character pieces," Gordon said. "Because C.S. Lewis' story is iconic and epic, but also tender, personal, and emotional, he's the perfect choice to bring 'The Silver Chair' to the screen," he added.

"Narnia" films, which include "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" and "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader", gained nearly $1.6 billion at worldwide box office. The first two films were distributed by Disney, while "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" was released by Fox.

While the three movies center on the Pevensie children, "Narnia: The Silver Chair" will follow their cousin Eustace Scrubb, who makes a journey to Narnia to save Prince Caspian's kidnapped child.

Johnston is best known for directing 1995's "Jumanji", starring Robin Williams, and 2011's "Captain America: The First Avenger". Johnston's other directorial credits include "Jurassic Park III", "The Wolfman", "October Sky" and "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids".
