'Dancing with the Stars' Features Shocking Elimination on 'Boy Bands and Girl Groups' Night

One of the best female dancers on the competition is eliminated despite getting the first perfect score of the season, while all of the male dancers are safe.

AceShowbiz - There's a huge shocker on tonight's "Dancing with the Stars". One contestant who had proven to be a strong contender on the competition was eliminated on Monday, April 24, after getting a perfect score for that night's performance.

The episode's theme was "Boy Bands and Girl Groups", so the remaining pairs danced to songs from famous groups such as Destiny's Child, Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. Season 21's runner-up and BSB's member Nick Carter returned as a guest judge, while Julianne Hough skipped this week's show.

Simone Biles and Sasha Farber were the first pair to dance, performing a Samba to "Survivor" by Destiny's Child. Simone struggled to be sexy, but the judges were all nice to her. They gave her 35 out of 40 points.

Bonner Bolton and Sharna Burgess followed it up with a Rumba to "I Want It That Way" by BSB. Len Goodman said his lines "were good," but "the bits between the lines could have been more fluid." Bruno Tonioli thought "it was a bit jagged." The professional bull rider got 30 points.

Nancy Kerrigan and Artem Chigvintsev danced a Paso Doble to "Free Your Mind" by En Vogue. She looked tense and Len noticed that she was unstable. Carrie Ann Inaba loved that Nancy showed this kind of power for the first time, while Nick said he was blown away by the dance. Nancy earned 33 points.

Up next were Nick Viall and Peta Murgatroyd who danced a Jive to "Fun, Fun, Fun" by The Beach Boys. Bruno said it was fun, but the footwork was messy. Nick said, "You got the looks, you got the girl, but you gotta work on the moves a little more." The reality TV star earned 28 points.

Normani Kordei and Valentin Chmerkovskiy brought the competition to the next level with their Salsa to "When I Grow Up" by The Pussycat Dolls. It was a fierce number, though Len complained that there's a lot of hip-hop and not a lot of Salsa. The singer earned 38 points.

David Ross and Lindsay Arnold danced an Argentine Tango to "I Want You Back" by NSYNC. The judges noticed that he looked frustrated because he struggled to master the steps. Bruno expressed everyone's worry that he seemed to almost drop Lindsay during their lift. David earned 29 points.

Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater danced a Tango to "Reach Out, I'll Be There" by The Four Tops. Len said it was "a proper Tango," though Rashad got a little bit excited and lost control. Carrie Ann said Rashad danced with "style and technique." He earned 37 points.

Heather Morris and Maksim Chmerkovskiy performed that last individual routine, a Rumba to TLC's "Waterfalls". It was sexy and the premise was cute, with Heather leaving Alan Bersten for Maks. Carrie Ann said it was Heather's best dance so far, and Nick called it his favorite dance of the night. Heather earned 40, the first perfect score of the season.

Before moving to the group dances, it was revealed that Team Boy Band was safe. That meant Normani, Nancy, Simone and Heather were in danger of being sent home. The boys went shirtless as they danced to a medley of songs by Jackson 5, New Kids on the Block and One Direction. Len loved that it "was full of gimmicks and crowd pleasing moves." Bruno said it was "fabulous mess," while Carrie Ann called out Bonner for missing the staging. The judges scored the dance 33.

The girls danced to a medley of songs by The Chiffons, TLC and Fifth Harmony. Bruno and Carrie Ann expected something more from the talented girls, but Nick disagreed, saying it was amazing. Len thought "the quality of dancing was probably better than the guys, but I found the guys more entertaining." The judged scored the dance 34.

Finally, it's time for elimination. Based on last week's dances, Heather and Maks were eliminated. The audience sounded shocked, but Heather still took it in stride. "I'm okay," she said. "It's a hard competition. And I'm really happy that I got to do exactly what I got to do. It's very, very fun." It was even more unfortunate as Maks just returned after his injury only to be sent packing tonight.
