The 'X-Men: Apocalypse' sequel is officially confirmed to explore the 'Dark Phoenix' saga and get a 2018 release date.

AceShowbiz - "Dark Phoenix Saga" is confirmed by 20th Century Fox for the next "X-Men" movie. Titled "X-Men: Dark Phoenix", the superhero movie is scheduled to make its way out in theaters across the United States on November 2, 2018.

The film is set to face off Disney's live-action remake of "Mulan" and debut a week after Warner Brothers' version of "Jungle Book: Origins" and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" remake "The Girl in the Spider's Web".

According to a casting call, Professor X will be back. It says, "Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-Men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!"

Grey's huge powers as the Phoenix were previously glimpsed in "X-Men: Apocalypse". She was played by Famke Janssen in the earlier installments before Sophie Turner took over in the latest film last year.
