The 23-year-old singer/songwriter are slammed by the '70s rock band's fans for 'ripping off' guitar riff from the classic song on his new solo single.

AceShowbiz - It hasn't been a week since Harry Styles made his debut TV performance as a solo artist on "Saturday Night Live" by performing two songs off his upcoming album, "Sign of the Times" and "Ever Since New York", and the British heartthrob has now made other headlines. He has been accused of plagiarizing a guitar riff of "Baby Blue", a song by '70s rock band Badfinger, on "Ever Since New York".

Fans of the rock band have since blasted the One Direction star on social media. A source told The Sun, "This is the last thing Harry needed. His solo launch hasn't quite gone to plan and this is another distraction. He takes real pride in his new material and to be accused of nicking a riff will really hurt."

The rumor also quickly turned into a trending topic on Twitter. Laura Thorpe tweeted, "That 8 note bassline in that Harry Styles song sounds lifted from Badfinger's Baby Blue." Similarly, Peter Kirkpatrick wrote, "I wonder if Harry Styles has ever heard Badfinger's Baby Blue, and if he will hear from their lawyer."

Since he started working on his solo album, Harry has hinted that the album would have '80s rock ballad vibes. "Sign of the Times" and "Ever Since New York" undoubtedly have the vibes. However, there is still no confirmation whether the tracks, especially "Ever Since New York", were inspired by certain classic songs.

Prior to this, "Ever Since New York" also gained much attention from fans as they wondered if the song was inspired by Harry's past relationship with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.
