Nicole Kidman Is Covered With Blood in 'The Beguiled' Full Trailer
Movie

The trailer offers a better look at female characters in all-girl boarding school, who turn to be wicked after having some affairs with an Union Army soldier.

AceShowbiz - Full-length trailer for Sofia Coppola's "The Beguiled" has been released for the audience's viewing pleasure. Starring Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Colin Farrell, Elle Fanning, Angourie Rice and Oona Laurence, "The Beguiled" highlights a dark and violent side of an all-girl boarding school at the height of American Civil War.

The trailer opens with a young girl saving a badly-injured Union Army soldier named John (Farrell). He is later nurtured in an all-girl boarding school owned by Miss Martha (Kidman). "You're the most unwelcomed visitor and we do not propose to entertain you," says Martha, to which John replies, "You'll find [those girls] easily amused." Martha debunks him by saying, "You won't be here long enough for that."

As time goes by, the women in the school start to get infatuated with John, starting from teacher Edwina (Dunst) and teenage student Alicia (Fanning). However, as the affairs grow more and more passionate, the women unexpectedly start to turn against John. They even perform violence on him, which includes giving him poisoned meal.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Martha's dress is covered with presumably John's blood. She also asks someone to give her a saw, which may be used for amputating John's leg. John becomes the women's prisoner and at the end of the trailer, he screams, "What have you done to me, you vengeful b****es?!"

Director Sofia Coppola is known for the portrayal of repressed women in her movies, such as "The Virgin Suicides" and "Marie Antoinette". "The Beguiled", on the contrary, features the power of women over a man. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Coppola explains the premise of "The Beguiled".

"The main crux of the story is about the dynamics between a group of women all stuck together, and then also the power shifts between men and women," Coppola says. "So for me, it's very universal, but it's in this exotic setting of the Southern gentility."

"The Beguiled" will hit limited U.S. theaters on June 23. Also starring in the movie are Emma Howard and Addison Riecke.
