AceShowbiz - Victoria Adams a.k.a. Victoria Beckham must be proud of herself after receiving an OBE from Prince William for her services to the fashion industry. The former Spice Girl member was joined by her husband, David Beckham, and parents for the investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, April 18.
Victoria received the award more than 13 years after her former England captain hubby was granted the same title for his services to soccer. She looked stunning in a floor-length black dress and high purple heels as she waited to go into the ceremony. On being given the title, Victoria said, "It was an absolute pleasure to be at Buckingham Palace today. I'm proud to be British, honored and humbled to receive my OBE from the Duke of Cambridge."
She continued, "If you dream big and work hard you can accomplish great things," before thanking her parents and husband. "I'm so happy to share this very special occasion with my parents and husband; without their love and support, none of this would be possible," she added.
Victoria shared on Instagram two photos taken during the ceremony. In one photo, the mother-of-four could be seen holding a box which contained the medal. "Wonderful day celebrating with my beautiful family x #BuckinghamPalace #OBE VB," so she captioned the snap. Meanwhile, the other photo found Prince William pinning the medal on Victoria's dress.
While Victoria's inner circle was certainly proud of her achievement, social media users were not impressed by the fact that she was honored for simply having a clothing line. "Contribution to fashion?! Biggest joke," a Twitter user wrote, while another commented, "My father has saved countless lives as a doctor but clearly that isn't in the same league as 'services to fashion.' Never got even a thanks."
Victoria clearly ignored her haters as she was having a good time with her family and friends when celebrating her OBE honor at a lavish private dinner at Casa Cruz in London later on that day. Her four children, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, were also in attendance. The 43-year-old fashion designer was still sporting the same outfit she wore when attending the ceremony. She swept up her brunette locks into a fashionable up-do.
