According to celebrity Photoshop expert Alan Barry, the promo photo is 'heavily edited' and has 'a certain amount of color saturation that gets washed out by the studio lighting.'

AceShowbiz - ABC has made a history by tapping Rachel Lindsay as the first African-American Bachelorette. However, it seems like the network cannot truly abandon their desire to feature a lighter-skinned face. A celebrity Photoshop expert points out that the promotional photo for Rachel's season of "The Bachelorette", which was shared on Tuesday, April 18 on Instagram, has been "heavily edited."

"There is a certain amount of color saturation that gets washed out by the studio lighting that this was shot with," celebrity photoshop expert Alan Barry told Radar Online. He added, "However, the photo editor has many choices of how to deal with that."

Alan further explained, "Her skin is has been obviously lightened in post production. It is particularly apparent when looking at the the back of her right arm, which almost appears to be close to a Caucasian skin tone." He also dubbed the work "embarassing."

ABC's president Channing Dungey, who happens to be African-American herself, wanted to see a diversity on the show, thus Rachel was tapped to be the leading lady of the dating competition series. However, the decision was not made without a single opposition. Some reportedly opposed the idea of having a woman of color on the show, saying that it would cut off the franchise's base.

A representative for ABC hasn't commented on the matter. Either way, Rachel will be the rose-giving lady in the upcoming 13th season of "The Bachelorette" which is set to premiere on May 22 on ABC.
