At Star Wars Celebration, It's announced that the Disney XD animated series will wrap its journey after its upcoming fourth season, which is expected to be released this fall.

AceShowbiz - "Star Wars Rebels" journey to the galaxy far far away will be coming to an end soon. During the Disney XD's show panel at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando on Saturday, April 15, executive producer Dave Filoni made the disheartening news.

" 'Star Wars Rebels' will be the complete journey that it was meant to be from the very beginning," Filoni said. He continued, "We all felt that the time was right and that the characters were at a point where their story, and their destinies, should finally be revealed. We deeply appreciate all our fans who have journeyed with the Ghost crew, and I promise season four will be like no other."

"I firmly believe that each generation needs to have their own piece of 'Star Wars' and this show, for a lot of kids growing up with it, is as much a piece of 'Star Wars' as any of the movies," Filoni further explained, before adding, "This is by no means the end of what we're doing in animation."

Tiya Sircar (Sabine), meanwhile, teased a possible appearance of Boba Fett. "If there are any Mandalorian fans out there, there are a couple episodes that you may really enjoy and you might be surprised who shows up," Sircar said, making a reference to the origin world of Fett's armor.

During the event, they also debuted a new trailer of "Star Wars Rebels" season 4. The trailer promises big surprises as well as "a time of difficult choices" for the crew of the Ghost. Ezra (Taylor Gray) narrates in the trailer, "It was a simple story about a boy who was lost and a girl who was broken."

He continues, "I led them in a battle against an evil so terrible who tries to black out the stars. We fought for each other. We fought for those who could not." Before the trailer goes black, he adds, "But we never imagined, it would end... like this." Scenes of the war later are glimpsed, revealing the "time of difficult choices." But the entire Ghost crew strongly believes that as long as they have each other's backs, the force will be with them.

"Star Wars Rebels" follows the adventures of the Rebellion leading up to the events of 1977's "Star Wars: A New Hope". The 15-episode fourth and final season will be the bridge to the events seen in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" and "A New Hope".

The animated series features Gray, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Vanessa Marshall in the voice cast. Also confirmed to appear in the fourth season are Mon Mothma (Genevieve O'Reilly) and Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker).

"Star Wars Rebels" season four, which according to Filoni will be darker in tone, is currently in production. Premiere date has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be released this fall on Disney XD.
