'The Voice' Season 12: Meet the Top 20 in 'Road to Live Shows'
TV

After wrapping up the Knockout Round, the Emmy Award-winning show airs a special episode which 'traces the journey of the Top 20' and features 'previously unseen footage of the coaches.'

AceShowbiz - After officially wrapping up the Knockout Round in the last episode, on Tuesday, April 11, "The Voice" season 12 aired a special episode prior to the live shows. Titled "Road to Live Shows", the special episode's official synopsis read, "Top moments from Season 12 are recalled in a special edition that traces the journey of the Top 20. Previously unseen footage of the coaches is included."

Alicia Keys was excited to introduce her team members which included Anatalia Villaranda, Ashley Levin, Vanessa Fergeson, Stephanie Rice and Chris Blue. Alicia believed that the winner of this season would be coming from her team, but fellow coach Blake Shelton completely disagreed. Anatalia won her Knockout Round easily, while Ashley was originally in Team Blake before she was defeated in the Battle Round. Vanessa chose to join Alicia's team during Blind Auditions after she wowed three coaches. Meanwhile, Alicia stole Stephanie in the previous episode and Chris Blue stayed on Alicia's team after surviving the previous Knockout Round.

Next up was coach Adam Levine. The three-time winning couch seemingly thought that he could win this season as he dubbed his team consisting of Mark Isaiah, Jesse Larson, Josh West, Lilli Passero and Hanna Eyre "the most eclectic." Mark recently was able to perform comfortably on stage, showing off his pop vibe. Jesse played for Judith Hill after being recruited by Prince and made several others regret for passing on him. Josh served as the alt-rocker on Adam's team. Lilli previously was on Team Alicia before Adam stole her in the Knockout Round. Hanna, meanwhile, impressed the coaches by the power in her voice despite her young age.

Gwen Stefani was equally psyched about her team. She got everyone's favorite JChosen as well as Hunter Plake, whom she stole from Team Alicia in the Battle Round. Another talented singer on her team was Troy James, who continued to blow away Gwen's mind. Country singer Brennley Brown was stolen by Gwen from Blake in the Knockout Round, joining 13-year-old Quizz Swanigan to round out Gwen's genre-varied team.

Blake is the last coach to introduce his team. The five-time winning coach was definitely convinced that this season would mark his 6th time's win. His team of 5 consisted of Lauren Duski, Aliyah Molden, TSoul, Aaliyah Rose and Casi Joy. Pop country singer Lauren had proven her talent throughout the season. Aliyah might only be a sophomore in high school, but she convinced Blake to keep her stay on his team during the Knockout Round. TSoul moved everyone with his emotional performances, while Aaliyah had been flaunting her singing skill on Youtube before coming to the show. Four chair-turner Casi made Blake fought hard to make her choose him to be her coach.

In the special episode, the coaches were also seen in never-before seen footage. Alicia was seen sharing her energy on the set and teased Adam with his look-alike puppet. The chemistry between the four coaches was shown as the jokes were coming out non-stop. Blake, meanwhile, praised the current season's advisors (Celine Dion for Gwen, John Legend for Adam, Luke Bryan for Blake and DJ Khaled for Alicia) by saying that they were the best ones yet. While the contestants found Celine's presence was too overwhelming, the Canadian singer encouraged the contestants to just have fun.

"The Voice" releases a sneak peak of next week's episode, teasing the comebacks of several singers as each team gets one comeback artist. "The Voice" airs on Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 P.M. on NBC.
