Fans might have been able to see a 'lovely scene with Rick and Carl with Michonne' if the show didn't decide to leave out the scene for the seventh season finale due to time issue.

AceShowbiz - The final episode of "The Walking Dead" surely satisfied fans with its epic all-out war between the Saviors and Alexandrians. However, little did we know that fans might have been able to see a lovely scene among the blood-and-gunshots packed scenes in "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life", if the show did not leave it out from 7th season finale. Executive producer Scott Gimple offered the details and the reason it needed to be cut.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gimple said that he was sad over the decision, but the action was certainly required due to time limitation even after extending the episode. "There is a lovely scene with Rick and Carl with Michonne and I’m hoping I put it in the deleted scenes," Gimple opened up. He added, "That sets up that moment a little bit between Rick and Negan. And I don't feel we needed to set it up."
Gimple went on explaining, "But it was a lovely scene that kind of did. It was strictly about time. This was already an hour and a half episode. This was sort of a long scene and it wasn't 100 percent necessary, but I really did like it and I believe it will be included as part of the deleted scenes."
The EP said, "It's just a factor of time and also wanting to also keep things moving along and not overload the audience with information," before adding, "Maybe in the future, we'll be doing ensemble shows where we do all 18 characters and take a deep dive."
The dynamic between Rick, Michonne and Carl as a group had been formed throughout the past few season, but it was noticeably lacking in season 7. Fans are now hoping that the scene will be included in the deleted scenes on the DVD.
"The Walking Dead" upcoming season 8 is slated to premiere this fall on AMC. Meanwhile, its spin-off, "Fear the Walking Dead", is set to premiere its season 3 on June 4 on the network.
