Diesel suggests that he and Johnson are very close 'in a weird way' and says that he protects Johnson 'more than he'll know.'

AceShowbiz - Vin Diesel has finally responded to "The Fate of the Furious" feud rumor which involved him and co-star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Speaking to USA Today, Diesel, who is presumably one of the unnamed male co-stars slammed by Johnson last August via Instagram, explains that he and Johnson are getting along just fine.

"I don't think the world really realizes how close we are, in a weird way," says Diesel. "I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don't think that was his intention. I know he appreciates how much I work this franchise. In my house, he's Uncle Dwayne," he adds.

Diesel goes on suggesting that he cares about Johnson "more than he'll ever know." He says, "I protect the franchise. I protect everybody including Dwayne. I protected Dwayne more than he'll ever know. And it doesn't matter. He doesn't have to know. But he appreciates it. He knows it." He later adds, "Dwayne has only got one Vin in his life. Dwayne Johnson only has one big brother in this film world and that's me."

The rumors about Diesel and Johnson's feud spread in the final weeks of "The Fate of the Furious" filming last August. Johnson took to Instagram to post a strong statement directed to unnamed male co-stars. "Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don't," he wrote. He added, "The ones that don't are too chicken s**t to do anything about it anyway. Candy a**es. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I'm not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling-you're right."

"The Fate of the Furious" is set to hit U.S. theaters on April 14.
