The Drew Barrymore-starring dark comedy has been renewed by the streaming service and is set to premiere sometime in 2018.

AceShowbiz - Drew Barrymore's Sheila is going to be a zombie a little bit longer. Netflix has announced via a video that "Santa Clarita Diet" has been renewed for its sophomore season. However, the episode count for the new season is currently unknown.

Uploaded on Wednesday, March 29, the video delivers the renewal news in a very "Santa Clarita Diet" way. Several human body parts, which include several fingers, a nose, eye balls, and something which looks like a bowel, are placed on a plate to form number "2". Through the video, the streaming giant also announces that the dark comedy's season 2 is slated to premiere in 2018.

"Santa Clarita Diet" follows real state agents Joel (Timothy Olyphant), wife Sheila (Drew) and their daughter Abby (Liv Hewson). Their dull life in Los Angeles suburb of Santa Clarita drastically changes after Sheila becomes an overnight zombie which makes her crave for human flesh. Joel and Sheila try to maintain their marriage while kill humans to feed the latter's growing appetite.

Also starring Skylar Gisondo and featuring Nathan Fillion as guest star, the 10-episode first season premiered on February 3 and is now streaming on Netflix. The first season of the series earned largely positive reviews.

"Better Off Ted" creator Victor Fresco serves as showrunner and executive producer. Along with Fresco, Aaron Kaplan for his Kapital Entertainment, Tracy Katsk for Kapital-based KatCo, Barrymore, Chris Miller, and Ember Truesdell through Barrymore's Flower Films banner, and Olyphant are executive producing.
