Han Solo Movie Adds 'Sing Street' Star Ian Kenny

Kenny is on board for Alden Ehrenreich-starring Han Solo film, joining the previously-announced cast members.

AceShowbiz - New cast member has been added to Han Solo standalone movie as filming gets underway. According to Variety, "Sing Street" actor Ian Kenny will join the untitled stand-alone Star Wars film II which stars Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover and Joonas Suotamo. Kenny's role in the movie hasn't been announced yet, though.

Kenny is best known for his performance in musical coming-of-age comedy drama "Sing Street", which was nominated for Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy. He also appeared on Irish TV series "Fair City".

Like blockbuster "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", Han Solo standalone movie will focus on the event before "Star Wars: A New Hope". Disney CEO Bob Iger has revealed that Han Solo film will see Han Solo's life when he is 18 to 24.

The movie will also explain how Han obtains his Millenium Falcon and how he meets Chewbacca. There is also a hint that Han Solo is actually not the smuggler's real name.

Ehrenreich will play younger Han Solo, who was magnificently portrayed by Harrison Ford in the original "Star Wars" movies and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Glover and Suotamo will play Han Solo's buddies Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca respectively. Harrelson will portray Han's mentor, while Clarke's role hasn't been announced yet.

Other cast members include Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Michael K. Williams. Han Solo movie is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on May 25, 2018.
