Disney CEO Bob Iger reveals that Leia's role remains unchanged in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' as well as hints that there may be more 'Star Wars' movies after 'Episode IX'.

AceShowbiz - Disney CEO Bob Iger has shared significant details of upcoming "Star Wars" movies. During a talk in Santa Monica, the CEO talked about the role of Carrie Fisher's Leia in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", revealed some bits about Han Solo movie and spoke about what could happen after "Star Wars: Episode IX".

Regarding General Leia's role in "The Last Jedi", Iger said that her role would remain unchanged despite Fisher's death. "When we bought Lucasfilm, we were going to make three films - Episodes 'VII', 'VIII' and 'IX'. We had to deal tragedy at the end of 2016," said Iger. "Carrie appears throughout 'VIII'. We are not changing 'VIII' to deal with her passing. Her performance remains as it is in 'VIII'. In 'Rogue One', we had some digital character. We are not doing that with Carrie," he continued.

When talking about Han Solo movie later on, Iger revealed some intriguing details. He divulged that the movie would explain how Han obtained his Millenium Falcon and how he met Chewbacca. Iger also hinted that Han Solo was actually not the smuggler's real name.

"We're actually shooting now an origin story of Han Solo, which will come out in 2018," revealed Iger. He added, "That picks up with Han Solo when he was 18 years old and takes him through when he was 24. There are a few significant things that happen in Han Solo's life, like acquiring a certain vehicle and meeting a certain Wookiee that will happen in this film. But you will also discover how he got his name."

Furthermore, Iger said that Disney would consider a big plan for "Star Wars" after "Episode IX". Judging from the fact that "Star Wars" remains solid for more than four decades, Disney is likely considering more "Star Wars" movies in the future. "We're starting talk about what could happen after 'Episode IX'. About what could be another decade-and-a-half of 'Star Wars' stories," said Iger.

In the meantime, the adventure in the galaxy far far away will be featured in the upcoming "Star Wars: The Last Jedi". Mark Hamill will reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in the movie. Other returning cast members include Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis. Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran are among the new cast members.

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will hit U.S. theaters on December 15.
