'This unkindness made me feel truly horrendous,' says the 'Titanic' star, recalling the moment when she was being bullied as a child.

AceShowbiz - Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet just spread powerful message at the fourth annual WE Day U.K. event in Wembley, London. The "Titanic" star didn't hold anything back when she recalled her bad memories about being bullied as a child.

"I was always comparing myself to others," said the "Collateral Beauty" actress. "They called me 'Blubber,' they teased me for wanting to act. Locked me in the cupboard and would laugh at me." She shared, "I wasn't the prettiest and I was even told that I'd be lucky in my acting if I was happy to settle for the fat girl parts. I'd never let go of that, and they'd say, 'You're just not what we're looking for, Kate.' I'd hear that a lot." She added, "This unkindness made me feel truly horrendous."

Kate went on explaining, "I was always auditioning for the school plays. I didn't really get very good parts, mind you, but I didn't mind. I didn't care. I would often get cast as the crocodile, or the scarecrow, or the dark fairy. I was even a dancing frog once. But it didn't matter. I still loved it." She claimed, "I loved acting. It didn't matter how big or small the parts were. I wanted to be great and I was determined to keep learning."

"And then one day, I was cast as Rose in 'Titanic'," the "Triple 9" actress continued. "The most unlikely candidate, Kate from the sandwich shop in Reading, suddenly acting in one of the biggest movies ever made!"

The "Labor Day" star concluded her inspiring speech by saying, "Get out there and go for it because your generation has the power to rock the world. You can be from anywhere, and you can do anything, believe it. It's possible to overcome your fears." She added, "I learned to embrace my flaws, to make no apology for who I am. I dug deep and I decided that I simply wouldn't listen when they said my body didn't fit. This is who I am, the real me, Kate from Reading."

The "Divergent" actress has been open about being bullied for quite a while. Back in September, the 41-year-old actress talked about her Hollywood success as the ultimate payback for all of those dark days she'd been through.

"I was kind of bullied when I was younger, for being chubby, and I had girls who were envious of me because I was acting a little bit as a teenager," said Kate. "So this is my revenge. This right here. This lovely career that I have been blessed with. I have healthy children, I have a really happy life, so it's like, 'Look at me now, girls.' "
