Bill Condon Hopes Lindsay Lohan Will Star in 'The Little Mermaid'
Movie

The 'Beauty and the Beast' director says that Lohan's idea to make 'The Little Mermaid' with him is 'very sweet' and he hopes 'she gets to make that movie.'

AceShowbiz - Last February, Lindsay Lohan wrote on her Instagram account that she wanted to play Ariel in "he Little Mermaid (2019)" live-action movie if "Beauty and the Beast (2017)" helmer Bill Condon directed it. Condon finally responds to Lohan's wish, saying that it is "very sweet."

"It was very sweet of her (to mention me)," Condon tells Vulture. "I hope she gets to make that movie," he adds. Condon goes on saying, ''I feel like I was so lucky in getting this crown jewel ('Beauty and the Beast'), but I'll see her in 'Little Mermaid', absolutely.''

Lohan posted a side-by-side picture of herself and Princess Ariel from "The Little Mermaid" classic animated version on her Instagram account on February 19. She wrote in the caption, "I will sing again, as #ariel #thelittlemermaid [if] @Disney approve that #billcondon directs it." The caption was later edited to merely "#thelittlemermaid."

Back then, Lohan teamed up with Disney for teen movies such as "Freaky Friday", "The Parent Trap", "Herbie: Fully Loaded" and "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen". While Condon has responded to Lohan's wish to star in Disney's "The Little Mermaid", Disney hasn't made any comment yet.

"The Little Mermaid" live-action movie is currently in early development. "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is in early talks to work on the movie and Alan Menken reportedly will return as the composer. Other Disney's live-action projects include "The Lion King", "Peter Pan", "Maleficent 2", "Dumbo", "Mulan", "Snow White" and "Cruella", a pic centering on Cruella de Vil from "101 Dalmatians".
