Report says that director Matt Reeves is contracted to work on 'War for the Planet of the Apes' until the end of June, so 'The Batman' is unlikely to begin its production until 2018.

AceShowbiz - Another obstacle emerges for "The Batman". While it has been confirmed that Matt Reeves will helm the movie, report says that "The Batman" is unlikely to start its production until 2018. According to Variety reporter Justin Kroll, Reeves is contracted to work on "War for the Planet of the Apes" until the end of June. Therefore, it seems impossible for "The Batman" to begin its production in spring as rumored.

"Hearing Matt Reeves contracted to work on 'APES' till at least end of June, so production on 'BATMAN' likely not starting till 2018," writes Kroll on his Twitter account. The reporter later tweets about the casting rumors, saying that "any casting rumors you hear are likely BS seeing that he wouldn't have time to meet with any talent till at least July."

In related news, Caped Crusader depicter Ben Affleck has just taken to his Facebook account to announce that he has completed a rehab stint for alcohol addiction. While people question whether Affleck's treatment had anything to do with his decision on not directing "The Batman", it reportedly didn't affect his involvement in the movie. According to Entertainment Weekly, Affleck is "still working on the script for the planned sequel with D.C.'s chief creative officer Geoff Johns."

Recently, Joe Manganiello, who will portray Deathstroke in "The Batman", said in an interview that fans didn't have to worry about the movie's production. "The movie will start shooting whenever those pieces are in place and we know this is gonna be something that we're proud of," he said.

He later added, "What we're not gonna do is be backed into a start date, scrambling to get something off the ground just to get it off the ground. Everyone involved wants to make this the best film possible, so that's really what it's about."
