'America's Got Talent' Taps Tyra Banks as New Host in Season 12

The former 'America's Next Top Model' host is set to replace Nick Cannon, who emceed the NBC reality series for the last eight seasons.

AceShowbiz - Tyra Banks is coming to "America's Got Talent" season 12. Howie Mandel, one of the show's judges, has just announced that Tyra will be replacing long-time emcee Nick Cannon, who recently quit the show after hosting for eight seasons.

"Please welcome [Tyra Banks] to the ['America's Got Talent'] family! She's our new host," Howie wrote. Meanwhile, Tyra tweeted, "Surprise! TyTy is the new host of ['America's Got Talent']! Can't wait 2work w/new fam [Melanie Brown], [Howie Mandel], [Heidi Klum] and [Simon Cowell]."

"Since I was a little girl, I've been obsessed with grandiose acts and performers who make the seemingly impossible possible," said Tyra. "I love how 'AGT' brings that feeling into everyone's home, capturing the best of people who come out and give it their all to make those big, fierce and outrageous dreams come true."

Meanwhile, NBC's head of alternative Paul Telegdy said, "Tyra is the complete package: Out-of-this-world talented, funny, brilliant and all heart. In whatever she has done, she has always connected with audiences around the world." He added, "Her vivacious spirit will infuse 'AGT' in a big way."

"America's Got Talent" marks Tyra's return as a host of reality series. She previously emceed "America's Next Top Model" for 22 cycles. She also hosted daily lifestyle talk show "FABLife" and her own show, "The Tyra Banks Show". Tyra was recently seen as one of the advisors on "The Celebrity Apprentice".
