Sarah Bogler has been tapped to play one of the leads opposite JD Pardo, in the pilot which is helmed by Kurt Sutter.

AceShowbiz - After previously announcing a series of male cast members, "Mayans MC" has cast its first female lead. "Into the Badlands" actress Sarah Bogler will star opposite JD Pardo in a lead role.

On the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off, Bogler will play a character named Emily, Deadline reports. Emily is a beautiful "guera" next door and childhood sweetheart of Ezekiel "EZ" Reyes (Pardo). However, the love story between them seemingly won't be a sweet story since the pilot plot description states that EZ will struggle to get her respect.

The Irish actress played Jade in the first two seasons of AMC's "Into the Badlands". Currently, Bogler is filming Starz's spy thriller series "Counterpart" and stars opposite J.K. Simmons on the series. Bogler's other TV credits are Showtime's "The Tudors" and ABC's "Once Upon a Time" where she played Princess Aurora. The actress can be seen next in crime thriller feature "A Good Woman Is Hard to Find" which will be helmed by Abner Pastoll ("Road Games").

"Mayans MC" will take place in the aftermath of Jax Teller's (Charlie Hunnam) death at the end of "Sons of Anarchy" finale. The spin-off will revolve around EZ Reyes (Pardo), a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border. EZ struggles with his vow of vengeance against cartel and his need for respect from the woman he loves.

"Mayans MC" pilot, who also stars Antonio Jaramillo, Clayton Cardenas, John Ortiz, Richard Cabral and Edward James Olmos, is set to film in Los Angeles this March. The pilot is directed by Kurt Sutter while Sutter and Elgin James write and co-create. Sutter serves as executive producer, while James co-exec produces the potential series for Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Prods.
