AceShowbiz - "Gotham City Sirens" director David Ayer may suggest that Black Mask will be the big bad in the "Suicide Squad" spin-off. The director has taken to his Twitter account to share an intriguing image of Black Mask, raising speculation that the villain will be featured along with Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in the movie. The image is taken from a panel in "Batman: Under the Red Hood" graphic novel.

In DC universe, Roman Sionis a.k.a. Black Mask is a sadistic kingpin of Gotham City's criminal underworld who has a fixation on the concept of masks. He gains what he wants by torturing someone physically and psychologically.

There hasn't been any official announcement about whether or not Black Mask will appear in "Gotham City Sirens" and who will portray him. So far, Robbie is the only cast member confirmed to star in the movie. She will reprise her role as Harley Quinn in the flick centering on the pig-tailed anti-heroine.

As for other characters, Ayer has hinted that Catwoman and Poison Ivy will also be featured in the "Suicide Squad" spin-off. Haley Bennett and Megan Fox were rumored to play the characters respectively. However, neither Warner Bros. nor Ayer confirmed it.

"Gotham City Sirens" is currently in early stage of development and will reportedly start its production in summer. The movie will be directed by Ayer and executive produced by Robbie, with Geneva Dworet-Robertson penning the screenplay. Plot details and release date haven't been announced yet, but the movie is expected to hit U.S. theaters sometime in 2018.
