AceShowbiz - A new photo of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has landed online. The image gives a better look at Kurt Russell's character Ego the Living Planet, who is also the estranged father of Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord (Chris Pratt).

Similar to the action figure, the cosmic character can be seen sporting thick beard and gray hair in a picture that was obtained by a Snapchat user. Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, Ego is an actual living planet that comes complete with a brain and innards. The character appears as a villain in the comics where he battles against Thor, Nova, Silver Surfer and more.

Set to the backdrop of "Awesome Mixtape #2", Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" chronicles the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Written and directed by James Gunn, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" also stars Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Baby Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, Chris Sullivan as Taserface, Sean Gunn as Kraglin and Sylvester Stallone as a member of the Nova Corps.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is set to be released in U.S. theaters on May 5.
