AceShowbiz - More winners at the 2017 Academy Awards have been announced. During the Sunday evening ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Viola Davis was awarded with the Best Supporting Actress trophy. She won the title for her performance in Denzel Washington's "Fences".
"I became an artist and thank god I did, because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life," Viola said upon accepting her trophy. She then thanked the producers, including her co-star Denzel. "Oh captain, my captain, Denzel Washington, thank you for putting two entities in the driving seat: August and God," she said in her emotional speech. "They served you well."
Previously at the ceremony, "O.J: Made in America" was announced as the winner in Best Documentary Feature category. The 7.5-hour feature beat up the likes of "Fire at Sea", "I Am Not Your Negro", "Life", "Animated" and "13th" for the title. Director Ezra Edelman said in his acceptance speech, "This is incredible, I want to thank [producer] Caroline Waterlow for going on this journey with me," he added, "I want to thank the Academy for honoring this untraditional film."
Also at the award show, "Arrival" was announced as the winner in Best Sound Editing. It was presented to Sylvain Bellemare for his contribution in the Denis Villeneuve-directed sci-fi film. Meanwhile, the Best Sound Mixing Award went to Mel Gibson's "Hacksaw Ridge", which was nominated in six categories.
