With her apology, Arsenio drops his lawsuit against the 'Nothing Compares to You' singer and it saves her from paying $5 million.

AceShowbiz - Sinead O'Connor apologized for wrongly accusing Arsenio Hall as the one who supplied Prince with drugs. The 50-year-old singer issued her apology through a joint statement that was sent to ABC News by her publicist on Wednesday, February 22.

"Arsenio Hall and Sinead O'Connor announce that Sinead has retracted and apologized for statements she made about Arsenio last year, which prompted his defamation lawsuit against her, and the lawsuit has been resolved," the statement read.

"I apologize for my Facebook posts about Arsenio Hall to the extent that anyone thought I was accusing him of acting as Prince's drug dealer and supplying him with illegal hard drugs, or insinuating that Arsenio had something to do with Prince's death. I sincerely apologize because those statements would be false, and I retract them unequivocally," Sinead wrote.

After Sinead released her statement, Arsenio reportedly dropped his defamation lawsuit against the Irish singer since the comedian's reputation "has been restored by Sinead's unequivocal retraction and apology." The dismissal of the lawsuit also saved Sinead from paying $5 million to Arsenio.

Last year, just weeks after Prince's death in April, Sinead posted some controversial statements on her Facebook account. "Two words for the DEA investigating where prince got his drugs over the decades.... Arsenio Hall (AKA Prince's and Eddie Murphy's b***h)," wrote Sineas.

She continued, "Anyone imagining prince was not a long time hard drug user is living in cloud cuckoo land. Arsenio I've reported you to the Carver County Sherrif's office. Expect their call. They are aware you spiked me years ago at Eddie murphy's house. You best get tidying your man cave."

Shortly after, Arsenio's attorney denied Sineas' accusations and filed a defamation lawsuit against her. "The malicious statements made by O'Connor are absolutely false, and O'Connor's heinous accusations that Hall engaged in this criminal conduct are despicable, fabricated lies. The truth is that Hall never supplied illegal drugs to Prince, and he never 'spiked' O'Connor with drugs," said the attorney. In the lawsuit, Arsenio also claimed that Sinead knew the accusations were false before she posted it.
