New 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' TV Spot Suggests That Music Will Have Bigger Role
Movie

A new scene as well as David Bowie's song 'Suffragette City' in the TV spot seemingly allude to Kevin Feige's statement about the importance of music in 'Vol. 2'.

AceShowbiz - New TV spot of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is rich with music. Besides having David Bowie's "Suffragette City" playing in the background, the TV spot shows a music-related scene which wasn't featured in the previous trailers.

There is a scene in which Baby Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) connects Peter Quill's (Chris Pratt) Walkman to what seems like speakers. The sound of David Bowie's song comes afterward. The scene seemingly alludes to the recent statement released by Marvel head Kevin Feige that music would have bigger role in "Vol. 2".

"[The music] is all off the tape. It's all off of 'Volume 2'," said Feige to Screen Rant. "I would say that the other Guardians now know that music is a thing for Peter, so in early scenes, what you see baby Groot here-which he's just 'Groot' in the movie, but on set we call him baby Groot-he's setting up these little outer space speakers so that the music can play for all of them, because Quill likes to hear music when he's fighting."

Feige added, "So, it does go to more than just his headset, but it's all based off of 'Volume 2'. And I would say that a couple of the songs, and particularly one song has very unique lyrics that play in much more specific part into the plot, than any song did in the first film."

Another new scene shows Drax (Dave Bautista) kicking down a door alongside Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Mantis (Pom Klementieff) and Nebula (Karen Gillan). In addition, the TV spot shows a different reaction from Drax when Mantis is hit by a fireball. Instead of saying "watch out" like in the Super Bowl trailer, Drax says, "That almost hit me."

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 5.
