The drama will reimagine some of the Bible's popular stories in present day through modern versions of most notable characters in the Bible.

AceShowbiz - Queen Latifah and FOX's bond is getting deeper as the actress/singer/rapper is reportedly developing a religious drama for the network. Latifah, who is currently starring on FOX's "Star", will team up with Holly Carter, a CEO of faith-inspired content company, Releve Entertainment, and Shakim Compere's Flavor Unit Television for a Bible-themed drama titled "The Scroll".

Michael Elliot ("Brown Sugar", "Just Wright") will write the script based on an original idea by Carter. "The Scroll" will reimagine some of Bible's most popular stories in present day. Those stories will be depicted by a group of friends and colleagues who are the modern-day versions of some of the Bible's most remarkable characters.

Elliot and Carter will serve as executive producers on the potential new series along with Latifah and Compere. Meanwhile, 20th Century Fox Television in association with Releve Entertainment and Flavor Unit Television will produce the project.

Carter's Releve Entertainment has produced a good few of faith-based dramas, including "Preachers of L.A." and "Fix My Choir" on Oxygen. Her other TV credits include BET's "106 & Gospel" and "The Sheards". Carter also produced several feature films, namely "The Gospel", "In the Mix" and "A Beautiful Soul".

There has been several Bible-themed dramas lately, including History's miniseries "The Bible" and Hulu's cult drama "The Path". OWN also has a megachurch drama which is currently airing, titled "Greenleaf".
