The Recording Academy announces plan to pay homage to the 'Little Red Corvette' singer and the 'Faith' hitmaker at the Sunday night ceremony.

AceShowbiz - The Recording Academy plans a tribute to Prince and George Michael at the 2017 Grammy Awards. The award-giving ceremony's organizer took to Twitter on Wednesday, February 8 to share the good news.
The organizer's Twitter account wrote, "Don't miss an unforgettable tribute to two-time GRAMMY winner George Michael on the #GRAMMYs Feb. 12!" It later posted another tweet which read, "Its true! A tribute to music icon and seven-time GRAMMY winner Prince will take place at the #GRAMMYs Feb. 12 on @CBS!" along with pictures of the legends.

Ken Ehrlich, Grammys Executive Producer, also addressed the news in a statement, saying the two legends had "deep cultural impact" to the people. "While the primary focus of the Grammy Awards is to celebrate and honor the year's best in music, we consider it our responsibility to tell music's broader story by honoring its legends lost -that's what we strive to achieve with our annual tributes," Ehrlich said, before adding, "While it's nearly impossible to convey the full depth of an artist's cultural impact in a single performance, it's that very challenge that has led us to some of our most memorable Grammy moments."
The Recording Academy has yet to reveal which performer to take part in the specific tributes, but John Legend was previously announced to perform at the ceremony's in-memoriam segment. Other performers who will hit Grammys' stage are Adele, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Little Big Town, Chance The Rapper, Alicia Keys, Daft Punk, Maren Morris, Katy Perry, Lady GaGa and Metallica.
Hosted by James Corden, the 59th annual Grammy Awards will air on Sunday, February 12 at 8 P.M. ET on CBS.
