Madonna Adopts Twin Sisters From Malawi

The 'Rebel Heart' hitmaker is granted adoption order for two more children by a judge in Malawi.

AceShowbiz - Madonna is becoming a mother of 6. The "Rebel Heart" hitmaker has been granted permission by a judge in Malawi to adopt two four-year-old twin girls, Stella and Esther, according to Malawi's judiciary spokesperson Mlenga Mvula.

Mlenga tells PEOPLE that Madonna and her lawyer appeared in court on Tuesday, February 7 along with the children, their father and their uncle, all of whom witnessed the adoption. "Their mother died a week after she delivered the babies [in August 2012]," Mlenga says of the the twin girls, "After their mother died, the children were looked after by their grandmother, who could not fully provide for them, so they were taken into an orphanage."

According to Mlenga, "Madonna exuded happiness. She smiled while she was making her way out of the courtroom, and then she drove away [with her new daughters]."

A representative for Madonna hasn't responded to a request for comment.

Madonna has adopted from Malawi twice before. The "Like a Prayer" singer adopted son David Banda in 2008 and adopted daughter Mercy James in 2009. Both children are now 11 years old. She is also a mother to daughter Lourdes and son Rocco.
