'Deadpool 2' Writers Talk the Possibility of Deadpool/Wolverine Crossover
Movie

While there won't be any room for Deadpool in 'Logan', writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese suggest that Deadpool and Wolverine can actually share screen in a brand new project.

AceShowbiz - Rumors about Deadpool possibly appearing in "Logan" have been firmly debunked. Each party involved has explained that Deadpool's nature won't match with the movie's dark and serious tone. But Ryan Reynolds has often expressed his enthusiasm to collaborate with Hugh Jackman, causing people to wonder whether the Merc with a Mouth and Wolverine could actually team up if they're featured in a brand new project.

Fortunately, "Deadpool 2" writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese finally bring up a topic about Deadpool/Wolverine crossover. The writers have expressed their thoughts on the potential superhero team-up movie in an interview with The Playlist.

"It would be amazing to have Hugh resurrect Wolverine in the 'Deadpool' universe," says Wernick. "And again, Ryan's making a hard push to make that happen, and hopefully the public gets behind it and we can all convince Hugh to put the claws on one more time."

However, Reese later explains that creating the crossover can be tricky. Considering "Deadpool 2" will possibly be followed with "Deadpool 3" and "X-Force", he wonders whether Deadpool/Wolverine movie has a room amid the packed schedules.

"If you're looking at 'Deadpool 2', if you're looking at 'X-Force', if you're looking at 'Deadpool 3', there's not necessarily room for [another] team-up movie. I think it does create real scheduling and universe issues and something that could be ironed out, but it would need to be ironed out," says Reese. "I don't think any of us operated under the assumption that it would be even possible to do a Deadpool/Wolverine thing, so we just haven't planned for it, it's still not in the plan, but if it were to happen, it would require a hard look at the overall architecture of our storylines."

About the Deadpool/Wolverine rumor in "Logan", Reese says, "Yeah, that's not happening. The tones are just too different." He adds, "I'm not sure exactly where that rumor came from, but Hugh and Ryan are really close and they really do want to work together and they really do want to see these characters come together, so in the long run, that rumor could become true-that they're in a movie together, but it's just not 'Logan'. And no, not even an end-credit scene."

However, Reese explains that it doesn't mean that Deadpool and Wolverine can't share screen for another brand new project. "Well, when I say the tone doesn't work, I think the tone will absolutely work if we put those two together," says Reese. "Deadpool always needs a straight man, a foil, and Wolverine would be as good a foil as Colossus, just more cantankerous. I just know the 'Logan' movie as they conceived it could never have Deadpool in it and work. It just couldn't; it's way too serious and way too dark. It's just not right tonally. It's really, really different."

"Deadpool 2" is currently in the process of casting. Reynolds will reprise his role as Deadpool. There will be new characters added to the movie, such as Cable. The "Deadpool" sequel is set to hit U.S. theaters on March 2, 2018.
