The former 'Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman' star will become the new 'big bad' in the second season of the series.

AceShowbiz - Teri Hatcher has joined the cast of "Supergirl". The actress, who played Lois Lane in the '90s "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman", will play a mystery role, which will become the new "big bad" in season two.

"No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all time favorite Lois Lane," said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. "To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, Greg [Berlanti] and the fans."

The 52-year-old actress will appear in multiple episodes in the second season. Her most recent TV credits include CBS sitcom "The Odd Couple", another The CW's DC series "Smallville" and ABC's comedy-drama mystery series "Desperate Housewives".

"Supergirl" will mark Hatcher's reunion with her "Lois & Clark" co-star Dean Cain, who plays Jeremiah Danvers, Kara's (Melissa Benoist) foster father. Hatcher will also reunite with her "Desperate Housewives" co-stars Mehcad Brooks, who plays Jimmy Olsen, and Brenda Strong, who plays Lillian Luthor on the series.
