The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences ends the two-year #OscarsSoWhite protest with nominations on six African-American themed films.

AceShowbiz - The nominees for the 89th Oscars has been unveiled. "La La Land", starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, dominated the nominations with 14 nods to tie the record set by 1997's "Titanic" and 1950's "All About Eve".

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences also offered up the most nonwhite nominees in over a decade, ending the two-year #OscarsSoWhite protest with nominations on six African-American themed films.

Seven people of color were among the 20 acting nominees, including Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali ("Moonlight") and Dev Patel ("Lion"), a near-sweep in the Best Supporting Actress category for Viola Davis ("Fences"), Naomie Harris ("Moonlight") and Octavia Spencer ("Hidden Figures"), Best Actor for Denzel Washington ("Fences"), and Best Actress for Ruth Negga ("Loving").

The 2017 Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the first time, will air live on ABC on February 26.
