Madonna Defends 'Blowing Up the White House' Remark as Secret Service Is Planning to Investigate Her
Celebrity

The pop singer took to Instagram to clarify her controversial comment at the Women's March on Washington with a lengthly post in which she said it was a metaphor and was taken out of context.

AceShowbiz - Madonna has defended the comment she made at the Women's March on Washington on Saturday, January 21. At the massive anti-Trump protest that took place just a day after Donald Trump's presidential inauguration, the "Hold Tight" hitmaker passionately said in her speech that she had thought about "blowing up the White House."

Madonna joined other celebs like Scarlett Johansson and America Ferrera on stage to speak out in support of women's rights and equality when she said, "Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House." The pop singer told the cheering crowd, "But I know that this won't change anything. We cannot fall into despair."

On Sunday, January 22, Madonna took to Instagram to clarify her controversial comment. In the lengthy post, she said that it was a metaphor and was taken out of context. "Yesterday's rally was an amazing and beautiful experience," she captioned an image of herself donning an oversize fur hood with the words "I choose love!! Are you with me?" written across the photo.

"I came and performed Express Yourself and that's exactly what I did. However I want to clarify some very important things. I am not a violent person, I do not promote violence and it's important people hear and understand my speech in its entirety rather than one phrase taken wildly out of context," she continued, explaining that her choice of phrasing was out of her anger.

Madonna said she wanted to use it to "encourage women and all marginalized people to not fall into despair." She noted, "I spoke in metaphor and I shared two ways of looking at things." She continued, "However, I know that acting out of anger doesn't solve anything. And the only way to change things for the better is to do it with love."

Yesterday's Rally. was an amazing and beautiful experience. I came and performed Express Yourself and thats exactly what i did. However I want to clarify some very important things. I am not a violent person, I do not promote violence and it's important people hear and understand my speech in it's entirety rather than one phrase taken wildly out of context. My speech began with " I want to start a revolution of love." ♥️ I then go on to take this opportunity to encourage women and all marginalized people to not fall into despair but rather to come together and use it as a starting point for unity and to create positive change in the world. I spoke in metaphor and I shared two ways of looking at things one was to be hopeful, and one was to feel anger and outrage, which I have personally felt. However, I know that acting out of anger doesnt solve anything. And the only way to change things for the better is to do it with love. It was truly an honor to be part of an audience chanting we choose love. 🙏🏻🇺🇸♥️🙏🏻🇺🇸♥️🙏🏻🇺🇸♥️🙏🏻🇺🇸♥️🙏🏻🇺🇸 #revoltutionoflove♥️#revolutionoflove♥️*******************************************************
