Cameron, the man behind the first two 'Terminator' movies, is back to shepherd the new reboot, while Miller is eyed to helm.

AceShowbiz - Ever since director and writer James Cameron left the "Terminator" franchise, none of the follow-up movies were as successful as the first two he directed. However, good news comes for fans of the time traveling killer robot. It is now reported that the "Titanic" director is returning to oversee the franchise that began his career, eyeing "Deadpool" helmer Tim Miller to direct the new iteration.

Deadline reports that the "Avatar" director, who will regain certain rights of the movie in 2019, is in early talks with VFX wiz Miller to direct "a reboot and conclusion" of the killer robot movie franchise. CEO of Skydance Media which co-financed 2015's "Terminator Genisys", David Ellison, is reportedly "bankrolling an exploratory effort that includes engaging some top-flight science fiction authors to find the movie creatively."

The site also adds that the plot Cameron will go with for the new movie is still unclear. It's either Cameron will reboot the whole thing and create a brand new story or choose to make it to be a continuation of the second movie, "Terminator 2: Judgment Day".

Cameron's last involvement in the "Terminator" movie series was "Terminator 2: Judgment Day". He walked away from the project after he failed to buy the rights back of the movie. He revealed his plan to buy the rights back to producers Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna who later outbid him. The series has since had three additional movies and even a TV series titled "The Sarah Connor Chronicles". The most recent movie, "Terminator Genisys", was received poorly by both critics and audiences. Cameron's return is expected to bring back "Terminator" to its glory and to wrap the story in the right hands.

The "Piranha Part Two: The Spawning" and "Aliens" helmer is also attached to four sequels of "Avatar". The first sequel is speculated to hit theaters next December.

As for Miller, he made a surprising directorial debut last year with "Deadpool". Miller is currently attached to produce "Sonic the Hedgehog" movie as well as developing an adaptation of Fox's sci-fi novel "Influx".
