Anne Hathaway Controls a Monster in 'Colossal' Trailer
Movie

The Academy Award winner plays an unemployed woman who somehow thinks she can control a monster.

AceShowbiz - Anne Hathaway has to face a monster-related trouble in her movie "Colossal". A trailer of the movie is out. Hathaway plays Gloria, whose life turns upside down after she loses her job and is kicked out from her boyfriend's apartment.

The trailer shared via Entertainment Weekly begins with a phenomenon happening in Seoul, South Korea. People are stunned and buildings collapse. It turns out that there is a giant monster materializing over the city. Gloria, who stays in an empty apartment in her hometown in the United States, is watching the incident from her laptop. Speaking on the phone, she frightfully tells her friend about the news.

Later, Gloria finds out the monster seems to be operated by a remote control rather than doing something it wants. When Gloria raises her hand, the monster does the same. When she dances, the monster imitates her gesture. Gloria starts to think that she is somehow connected to the far-off phenomenon, that she controls the monster. She wonders why her insignificant existence makes such colossal effect to the world.

The movie premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival and received mixed reviews. It's also screened at the Sundance Film Festival. Director Nacho Vigalondo, who also directed Spanish thriller "Timecrimes" and "Open Windows", helmed the film. Also starring alongside Hathaway in the movie are Jason Sudeikis, Tim Blake Nelson, Austin Stowell and Dan Stevens.

"Colossal", which is distributed by NEON, is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on April 7.
