AceShowbiz - Get ready to get nuts since Open Road Films has unveiled the very first trailer for "The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature". "The Nut Job" sequel brings back Surly the squirrel and his ragtag gang, including Andie, Precious and Buddy, in addition to introducing several new characters.

Set in Oaktan, the trailer sees Surly and his gang trying to fight for their new "perfect" homeland, Liberty Park. After the nut shop explodes, they are forced to seek a new home to settle and opt for Liberty Park. But of course, the evil mayor won't make it easy for the animal group as he decides to bulldoze the park and build an amusement park in it instead. Surly and his gang are determined to sabotage the plan and take back their home.

Open Road Films has also released an official poster for the movie.

The original movie was surprisingly successful back in 2014 despite the poor reviews. It earned $64.2 million in domestic box office and $120 million worldwide, three times the production budget of $42 million.

"The Lego Movie" star Will Arnett will once again voice Surly. Maya Rudolph also returns as Precious, and Tom Kenny is back as the voice of Buddy. The other returning cast members include Gabriel Iglesias as the groundhog Jimmy and Jeff Dunham as mole.

Jackie Chan, Bobby Moynihan, Isabela Moner, Bobby Cannavale and Peter Stormare are among new additions to the cast. Chan will voice Mr. Feng, the leader of a dangerous street mouse gang, Moner will voice the mayor's spoiled daughter, Cannavale will voice Frankie, the mayor's french bulldog, and Stormare will voice Gunther.

Sebastian Maniscalco and Kari Wahlgren will take over the voice of Jimmy's groundhog siblings Johnny and Jamie respectively. Johnny and Jamie were originally voiced by Joe Pingue and Annick Obonsawin.

Cal Brunker ("Escape From Planet Earth", "Despicable Me") serves as director. Brunker also writes for this movie alongside Bob Barlen and Scott Bindley. Harry Linden, Barlen and Sunghwan Kim will produce the movie. Meanwhile, serving as executive producers are Hoe-Jin Ha, Hongjoo Ahn, Bill Bindley, Mike Karz, Hong Kim, Youngki Lee, Hyungkon Kim and Daniel Woo.

"The Nut Job 2" was initially set for a January 15, 2016 release, before it was pushed back to May 19, 2017. Only last month, Open Road Films announced that the movie got the current August 18 release in U.S. theaters.
