AceShowbiz - "Outlander" is officially the biggest winner in TV field at the recently concluded 2017 People's Choice Awards. The hit Starz series bagged four awards, including the coveted Favorite TV Show trophy. It defeated other favorite shows, including "The Big Bang Theory", "Grey's Anatomy", "Stranger Things" and "The Walking Dead", for the title.
The show was also named Favorite Premium Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show, while its lead stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were chosen as Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Actor and Actress respectively.
Unfortunately, Heughan and Balfe couldn't attend the event because they're busy shooting the third season. In a video, they thanked fans for their support. "We wish we were there- we're here busy filming, that's why we couldn't make it, but we definitely have the best fans and they must have the sorest thumbs, I think," Balfe jokingly said. "Our fans have got probably no thumbs left," Heughan added. "Thank you all and I hope you have a really fun evening."
Outlanders, we have a special #PCAs thank you message (and Live Q&A announcement) for you from @SamHeughan & @Caitrionambalfe! 😄#Outlander pic.twitter.com/WFkQkuUTas

"Bates Motel" follows "Outlander" close behind with three nods. It surprisingly edged out "Mr. Robot" and "Pretty Little Liars" among others to win the Favorite Cable TV Drama award. Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga additionally won the actor and actress awards in the Cable TV Drama category.
"The Big Bang Theory", "Grey's Anatomy" and "Man with a Plan" bagged two awards each. Being a new hit on NBC, "This Is Us" predictably won the Favorite New TV Drama award, while "The Voice" still reigns as Favorite Competition TV Show.
Ellen DeGeneres once again won Favorite Daytime TV Host. She won a total of three trophies at the Wednesday, January 18 ceremony, bringing her lifetime total to 20, the most among other PCA winners in the show's history.
The award show hosted by Joel McHale also handed out prizes to winners in the music, TV and digital categories. Tyler Perry was presented with Favorite Humanitarian award.
