Lucasfilm has denied reports that the producers plan to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher's performance as Leia Organa in future films.

AceShowbiz - No one is ready to say goodbye to Carrie Fisher and Princess Leia, but Lucasfilm has no plans to preserve her legacy in the "Star Wars" movie franchise in a way as recent rumors said. The studio has shut down reports that producers plan to use digital recreations of the late actress in future films.

"We don't normally respond to fan or press speculation, but there is a rumor circulating that we would like to address," reads a statement posted on StarWars.com. "We want to assure our fans that Lucasfilm has no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher's performance as Princess or General Leia Organa."

It adds, "Carrie Fisher was, is, and always will be a part of the Lucasfilm family. She was our princess, our general, and more importantly, our friend. We are still hurting from her loss. We cherish her memory and legacy as Princess Leia, and will always strive to honor everything she gave to 'Star Wars'."

Fisher starred as Princess Leia in the first "Star Wars" movie trilogy and returned as General Leia Organa in 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". She had finished her work on "Star Wars Episode VIII", which is slated for a December 15 release in the U.S., before she passed away at age 60 on December 27, 2016.
